Who are You and What’s Your Story?
Everybody has a story to tell and uncovering the stories that most uniquely define us can be one of the most rewarding and healing creative outlets. Storytelling bridges the individual and the universal. Stories build community and help us make sense of ourselves and the world we live in. In crafting and telling stories of our lived experience, we learn to explore the life experiences that have shaped and defined us, but telling our stories also connects us to others and reveals our shared humanity.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to the principles of storytelling and will learn to craft and share your own story. Using physical exploration, playmaking and mining the very richest parts of your personal story, you will learn to tell and ultimately perform your story with authenticity and confidence. The small group environment creates a safe, dynamic space, allowing for group interaction as well as individual guidance and feedback. In addition to performing their stories in the workshop setting, participants will be given the opportunity to perform their story at one of the monthly On The Fly Story slams at Helsinki Hudson.
