Storytelling Workshop at Opus 40

I am thrilled to announce that Hudson Valley Story Workshops (aka me and my partner Caitlin Langstaff) will be partnering with Opus40 for our next 6-week storytelling workshop beginning May 30.  In the workshop, you will learn how to give shape to your life stories and to share them with others in a small group setting as we roam the magical rock landscape at Opus 40 and explore the practice of storytelling together.

The workshop begins May 30 and runs for six Saturdays. You can read more about the workshop and sign up here.

And click here to hear some of the stories that previous workshop participants have developed in our workshop and told at our On The Fly Story Slams at HiLo Catskill.

Workshops

Six-Week storytelling Workshop starting July 13

Who are You and What’s Your Story?

Everybody has a story to tell and uncovering the stories that most uniquely define us can be one of the most rewarding and healing creative outlets. Storytelling bridges the individual and the universal. Stories build community and help us make sense of ourselves and the world we live in. In crafting and telling stories of our lived experience, we learn to explore the life experiences that have shaped and defined us, but telling our stories also connects us to others and reveals our shared humanity.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the principles of storytelling and will learn to craft and share your own story. Using physical exploration, playmaking and mining the very richest parts of your personal story, you will learn to tell and ultimately perform your story with authenticity and confidence. The small group environment creates a safe, dynamic space, allowing for group interaction as well as individual guidance and feedback. In addition to performing their stories in the workshop setting, participants will be given the opportunity to perform their story at one of the monthly On The Fly Story slams at Helsinki Hudson.
